ABOUT

Hi there. I’m a freelance news correspondent and documentary producer covering politics, inequality and LGBT issues.

I most recently worked as a national correspondent for VICE News Tonight, where I was twice-nominated for News and Documentary Emmy awards: for my coverage of the 2020 COVID outbreak in NYC, and for reporting on anti-trans legislation in Alabama.

In 2022, I hosted a three-part series on California’s housing crisis that’s received more than 11 million views on YouTube. In those stories, we chronicled the struggles of people living on the margins, from boat-dwellers in the Bay Area, to mobile home park residents in Fresno, and homeless folks in the Mojave desert.

While at VICE, I co-created and produced a groundbreaking series called Transnational, which featured a group of transgender journalists traveling the world to explore trans issues. The series won both a Peabody and a GLAAD Award.

I’ve also produced two feature docs: Queen of New York (NewFest 2023), about drag queen Marti Cummings’ run for political office, and the Netflix Original documentary Take Your Pills (SXSW 2018), about the rise of Adderall and other ADHD drugs in America.

I got my start in journalism at Al Jazeera English, where I worked for six years on the network’s Emmy-nominated program The Stream, first as an intern and eventually as a producer and occasional co-host.

I have an M.A. in Medical Anthropology from SOAS, University of London, and a B.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies from Vassar College.
